Handmade In America - The Western North Carolina Craft, Architecture and Design Expo

"HandMade: The Western North Carolina Craft, Architecture & Design Expo is a two-day event inviting the public to join artists, architects, builders and designers to share and learn about successful collaborations between craft artists, homeowners and industry professionals. Drawing from the tremendous craft resources that are a unique and vital part of Western North Carolina, the event will emphasize craftsmanship in architectural elements and design for both high-end and mid-range home markets.

Have you ever wondered why some homes so clearly reflect the personality of their owners? How do you create a home that looks like it belongs? What makes a home original and unique? Can a home be sustainable and luxurious?

Incorporating handmade components in your home can do all these things and more. It's easier than you might think to work with local artists to design and create your own special living environment. It's also good for the local economy and adds meaning and value to your home. When you build a relationship with the artist who builds your dining room table, turns your ceramic sink, or forges an iron handrail, you bring the creativity and personality of that artist into your home; you make it your own."

Michigan Guests Come to RiverDance

We have had guests from many states come and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of RiverDance since our dream was launched. Our guest from Michigan are staying for a month after spending most of the winter in coastal South Carolina. Ours is the last stop on their tour before heading back to the Midwest, and we are delighted that they have chosen RiverDance to call home. They have brought along two adorable dogs, Jack and Joe, who have loved exploring the Big Laurel.

Watson Makes A Visit

One of the features of RiverDance is that we just love dogs (you can see a picture of our little girl Midge on our home page at http://www.riverdancenc.com/). One of our recent guest from central North Carolina brought along a pal for Midge in the form of a young English Bulldog named Watson. Watson was most entertaining and constantly sounded like an express train was going through the house. Midge and Watson had a great time together. So if you have a buddy of your own, RiverDance is well setup to make your stay a piece of cake. The downstairs area, "River Rock" offers direct access to the outside for those doggy strolls. Here's a cute picture of our buddy Watson. We're thinking of adding a "doggy gallery" to the website. What do you think?
